NIG Brings Risk Management Process Fully In-House to be Closer to Brokers and SME Customers

NIG unveils its new Survey Support Team to manage future risk improvement requirements.

Leading commercial insurer NIG is to bring the remaining part of its risk management process in-house to better meet one of the firm's core business values: being closer to the customer.

From Monday 23 January, NIG's new Risk Management Support Team has been operating at the company's Peterborough offices. The team will book survey appointments on behalf of the company's 33-strong Risk Control team as well as take back in-house the important task of following up risk improvement requirements, which was previously outsourced.

The changes follow a major strategic review of existing risk control operations, designed to improve NIG's overall risk management proposition and service standards to brokers and SME clients.

Allister Meal, Risk Control Manager at NIG, explains: "2012 will be an exciting year for NIG Risk Control. Over the comings months the Risk Control team will focus on industry specialisation with tailored risk control audits, targeted risk management support services and greater access to risk management funding for brokers and clients.

"Insurance companies have relatively few opportunities for direct contact with their policyholders. Bringing the risk improvement follow up services back in-house allows NIG to be closer to customers and develop deeper, smarter relationships. Going forward we believe the added flexibility our Peterborough team provides will be a major selling point for our business."

NIG will be closely monitoring feedback from clients and brokers but expects to see these improvements help in delivering a new service standard for the commercial insurance sector and supporting NIG's wider strategy of growing its share of the SME market.
