NIG boosts its Midlands regional office with three key appointments

AXA, Keychoice, UK General and Bluefin staff join NIG 

Commercial insurer, NIG has made four external appointments at its Midlands Regional Office in Birmingham. Christian McIntosh and Darren Mason have been appointed as senior business development managers, Karen Percy has been appointed as operations manager and Clare Lonnergan has joined the office as area motor underwriter.

Christian McIntosh joins NIG from Keychoice Underwriting where he was responsible for establishing and developing a new broker panel. In his role as senior business development manager, he will be responsible for the growth and development of business with key brokers. He also has a wealth of experience in both sales and underwriting from his time at Towergate. Christian acts for his local Insurance Council as CII Deputy President for Shropshire and Mid Wales.

Darren Mason joins NIG from Axa Insurance where he was a strategic account manager responsible for managing the insurer's largest key account relationships. Darren has a background in underwriting having worked as a senior underwriter for RSA. As a senior business development manager at NIG, Darren will be responsible for the growth and development of key broker relationships across the East Midlands region.

Karen Percy has joined NIG as operations manager, she has over 20 years' experience in the insurance industry. Previous roles include head of business change for UK General and customer services manager for Primary General.

Clare Lonnergan has been appointed area underwriting for motor with responsibility for strengthening relationships with brokers by providing first class service and access to skilled local underwriters with authority to make quick decisions on larger risks. Clare joins NIG from Bluefin where as regional underwriting director she helped establish the business from scratch. Clare also has a background in the motor trade business, having specialised in the sector during her time at General Accident.

Commenting on the new appointments, Andy Jones, NIG's area business development manager for the Midlands region said, "It is great to see NIG expanding in Birmingham and we are delighted to have recruited such high calibre recruits into key positions within our business. Christian and Darren bring with them a wealth of expertise and skill.
