What's your role in the business:
I have the privilege of leading our underwriting, pricing and risk control teams to develop and deliver our underwriting strategy - in its simplest terms, selecting the right customers and charging the right price for the risk.
What's the best bit of advice you've ever been given:
There are no short cuts to success - it involves hard work and commitment
Describe yourself in 3 words:
Honest, tenacious and competitive 2011 was a big year for NIG, what are you most proud of: Managing to grow the business and improve our underwriting profit - and our staff telling us they are engaged in the culture and direction the business is heading.
What is your focus in 2012 and what does success look like at the end of the year:
Delivering a key part of our strategy to be the leading data driven commercial underwriter. Success will be being recognised as an indispensable trading partner helping our chosen brokers achieve their goals - and on a personal level continuing to enjoy my role and the culture we work within.
How do you live the NIG values for the benefit of our customers:
Our value of 'close to customer' is vital for me and spending time with colleagues and brokers enables me to ensure we are focussed on improving our value in the business relationship. I also enjoy spending time with our risk control team visiting customers to understand their needs and how we can build our expertise to continue to protect their business.
